School Life

The Clay environment is an oasis of greenery with resources and capacity for water storage amidst this dry desert plateau. It is safe, welcoming, and nurturing with guidance counseling and a health clinic on site for the community at large.

Students, accustomed to working on their family farms, rise before sun-up and are in classrooms at 6:30 AM studying as day breaks.  After breakfast and assembly they begin their classes at 8:30 with lunch and snack before classes end at 4:00.

The afternoon is filled with sports, clubs – debate, music and drama, art, scouts, agricultural projects, chicken farming, group projects and study.

A twilight assembly involves student –led singing, dancing, and a blessing at 6:00 before dinner. After that, they study in their classrooms until 9:30 then return to their dorms for bedtime.

In 2015 Clay became a boarding school for just the girls to ensure safety for those who had to walk home long distances in the dark at night. The boys moved into their new dorm in 2017.  Living on campus has given students more time for studying and collaborative academic teamwork.  Weekends bring Saturday classes and traveling to sports matches, more campus chores, and studying.  There is time for relaxation and church and singing on the weekend.
